For those of you that missed the latest Horizon, it is available here on iplayer.
The reason I go out of my way to point it out is that Sir Paul Nurse does such a good job of presenting it, and it is really worth having a watch. I don't quite know how he finds the strength to stay calm and pleasant to the various crazies who appear of the hour, but I have to say if I was in his position I don't think I would have been able to.
Of worthy note is the bile-rising James Delingpole, an online journalist for the Telegraph, who simply comes across as one of the most slimy and unpleasant men I think I have ever seen interviewed. His irresponsible (and incredibly badly timed) "exposure" of the climategate "scandal", and utter misrepresentation of the facts and barefaced lack of effort in trying to understand even the basics of the scientific method made me want to stab kittens.
All in all Sir Paul raised some very good points, especially regarding the communication of science to the public, and for those without a scientific background then I highly recommend the programme.
